In her role as Fespar’s Chief Financial Officer, Roberta has day-to-day responsibility for planning and managing all financial related activities of the company. Roberta’s work history brings valuable expertise that helps to complete the company’s strategic planning, finance, accounting/tax, investment analysis and partnership relationships.
From 2005 to 2013 Roberta served as Special Advisor to Ty Warner Hotels and Resorts, LLC and primary liaison between ownership and the entity’s hotel and golf course managers. Her extensive real estate financing and hospitality background enabled her to recommend short and long-term strategies for the various properties from an operations, profitability and capital improvements perspective. She also worked with the entity’s home office and third party advisors to assist with re-branding (both franchise and independent) and evaluating purchase, sale, development and expansion opportunities. In addition, her extensive financing background proved invaluable with the selling of several properties and financing the hotel portfolio several times during her tenure.
From 2003 to 2005 Roberta served as Chief Financial Officer for André Balazs Properties/HotelsAB, LLC a hotel management and hotel and residential development firm with properties in New York, southern California and Miami, FL. There she was responsible for the finance, tax and accounting functions as well as construction and development accounting.
Prior to her work at André Balazs Properties/HotelsAB, LLC, Roberta was Senior Vice President – Finance for Millennium Hotels and Resorts, LLC. In 1999 when Millennium acquired Regal Hotels in Denver she was an integral part of the team to identify a buyer and negotiate the sale of Regal Hotels’ interests in the United States.
Roberta launched her career in public accounting, working in the Audit Department with PricewaterhouseCoopers (San Francisco), in the Tax and Audit Department with Ernst & Young (Denver) and in her own private CPA practice (Denver).
Roberta earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of California-Berkeley and a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Colorado-Denver. She is a Certified Public Accountant and an active volunteer in the Santa Barbara community. She currently serves as the Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors for the Santa Barbara Center for the Performing Arts (The Granada), the Finance Committee for Girl’s Inc. and assisting with Opera Santa Barbara.
Roberta and her husband Michael enjoy travel, music, tennis, entertaining, cooking and wine.
